Index New Zealand is an online database which provides access to the main articles found in selected New Zealand publications, including newspapers and nearly 300 magazines about New Zealand and the South Pacific. Index New Zealand is updated daily with approximately 2,000 new articles added each month. Subjects covered include general interest, social research, current affairs, the arts and humanities. Index New Zealand is an index only. This means that it will only list the titles of the articles in each magazine, but not the actual article for you to read. To
obtain the article, note down the details, and come and see one of the
librarians at the front desk.

Search Hints for Using Index New Zealand Keyword
Relevance If you enter more than one keyword when using Keyword Relevance search, results will find records that contain at least one of the keywords you entered, but not all of them. To make your search more effective, enter search terms with a + sign immediately before each word. This tells Index New Zealand to find all keywords before it selects a record for your results list. Example
Index New Zealand came back with over 10,000 results, because it found at least one of the keywords somewhere in the record, but most of the results weren't relevant. By redoing the search using the + sign, Index New Zealand narrowed results lists to 15 articles, all which were relevant.
